The BOP stands for the “Federal Bureau of Prisons.” It is a United States federal law enforcement agency and a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. The primary responsibility of the Federal Bureau of Prisons is the administration and management of the federal prison system. This includes the custody, care, and control of federal inmates.
