The United States Census Bureau

The United States Census Bureau is a principal agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for conducting the decennial census, which is a comprehensive population count and demographic survey of the United States. The Census Bureau operates under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Commerce. While the decennial census is one of its most well-known functions, the bureau is also involved in various other surveys and data collection activities.
