The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Volpe Center

The U.S. DOT Volpe Center, officially known as the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, is a federal research and innovation center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and is operated by the DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA). The Volpe Center is named after John A. Volpe, a former Secretary of Transportation.

The Volpe Center plays a critical role in transportation research, innovation, and technical support for the U.S. DOT and other government agencies. Its primary mission is to advance and improve the nation’s transportation systems through research, development, analysis, and technical expertise.
